Low-code No-code Software Engineering

I'm building the next generation Low-Code No-Code solution.

I'm building the next generation Low-Code No-Code solution.

As a software engineer, I used to be against people using No-Code platform like Bubble to build their applications. Sooner or later when they outgrow Bubble, they have to build an application all from scratch. That's why many people treat Bubble as a prototyping tool. However, with Bubble getting more and more advanced, it has become the platform where people can actually build a production application. But, you still need to completely rely on the Bubble platform. We still haven't covered the complexity, data ownership and security side of things.

But, hey, it is built for non coders. So, there are limitations.

More and more startups these days are software oriented now. There are more entrepreneurs and innovators building the next big app idea. But, software engineers are expensive and technical founders are hard to find. So, it is understandable that Low-Code No-Code software development is the only solution to bridge the gap.

That's why I become the believer of Low-Code No-Code. This is not entirely a new concept, but it is still developing area. So, there are so much to improve in this solution.

So, why now?

We all can see how software development has changed for the past few decades. Developers had to write in a very incomprehensible language such as Assembly to build a software. Then, we now have high level programming languages like Java, Javascript, Python, PHP and so on. To make the development even faster, we have frameworks, plugins and libraries. Developers life just get better. Then it comes to a cloud era, making applications to go live even faster.

What a great time for software engineers!

But, everyone can have an innovative app or tech startup idea, but not being able to code. So, the next focus in software development is Low-Code No-Code solution. It helps general population to innovate and be able to build an application without knowing how to code at all. This allows software engineers to focus on something more challenging and higher value tasks.

When it comes to building a software, there is no way we can eliminate software engineers from the equation completely. That is why the current low-code no-code tools don't really quite work well. They are not built to be ready for engineers. At some point, they will require a custom implementation. Who will be the ones to handle those? A software engineer.

So, this is my Startup idea now.

That's why I am building Licode, an Engineer-Ready Low-Code No-Code solution, for everyone to build a scalable application. The goal of Licode is to bridge the gap between the earliest software development and later scaled up engineering team. The core value of Licode is the solution to export code into a well maintained public frameworks such as Laravel, VueJS and TailwindCSS. So, it doesn't matter whether you are technical or non-technical, Licode will make sure the application is built in a software engineer way.

For every software project, it starts with the first line of code. The code design, implementation and architecture for your very first release is what I call, Genesis Code, which will determine how far your software can live without refactoring and rebuilding it.

I am not a designer. I don"t really have any creativity in designing anything. However, as I am a Software Engineer and running my side hustle, I need to do some designs myself, like a logo design for my website and software products.

Being a software engineer wasn't my first choice. But, I always knew I was going to be some sort of engineer or scientist. I gained so much interest in science and technology during my high school. When I discovered coding, it amazed me.
